BLIND MELON Fans Organize Second Annual VIGILSTOCK
August 11, 2004Fans of late BLIND MELON singer Shannon Hoon will gather for a Shannon Hoon Vigil on Saturday, September 25 at the Dayton/Fairfield Cemetary in Dayton, IN. The purpose of the Vigil, which is held annually on the first Saturday closest to Shannon's birthday (September 26),is to allow family, friends, and fans from all over the world to come together to pay their respects. Melonheads, as they call themselves, bring flowers, gifts, candles, poetry, paintings, play and sing music, and share stories all day and night in dedication to Shannon.
In addition to the Vigil, there is now an annual vigil show called Vigilstock. It is held on the Sunday following the annual Vigil, put on by the Melonheads themselves, to extend the Vigil weekend and celebrate Shannon and his music together. Bands from all regions that are influenced by the music of Shannon and BLIND MELON are welcome to submit a demo to play Vigilstock.
